Here are Some of the Technologies that Keep You Safe in Volvo Vehicles

v

Volvo has been at the forefront of automotive safety since it was founded back in 1927 and its current lineup of vehicles continues this tradition with its large array of advanced safety features.

The forward collision warning

Every new Volvo vehicle is equipped with the forward collision warning system which is capable of detecting vehicles, pedestrians, cyclists, and many large animals. This technology uses different types of sensors to monitor the space in front of the vehicle at all times in order to help prevent a collision. If a risk of collision is detected, the forward collision warning sets off a loud alarm and a series of red lights that blink at the base of the windshield in order to quickly grab your attention so you can brake quickly. If you don’t react soon enough, the vehicle can apply the brakes on its own to avoid or reduce the severity of the impact. At the same time, the seatbelts are pulled tightly around each occupant and the vehicle prepares itself for an impending crash.

The Cross-Traffic Alert with Auto Brake

Most Volvo vehicles are equipped with the rear cross-traffic alert system which monitors the area behind the vehicle while reversing in order to warn you if a vehicle is coming from either side. This is very helpful when backing out of a parking spot where visibility to the side is limited by other vehicles. If a risk of collision occurs, your Volvo can brake on its own to avoid the impact.

Whiplash injury protection system

A system that was pioneered by Volvo and which had been found in all of its vehicles for over 20 years is the Whiplash Injury Protection System (WHIPS). This technology uses a unique seat design for the driver and front passenger positions in order to absorb the impact forces during a rear-end collision. This contributes to better control of the body and head movement during a crash, which can prevent the complications associated with whiplash.
